About me:

Bodywork David. Transcend, Connect.

My name is David, and bodyworkToronto is my brand and online identity.

Think of me as your partner in self-care.

I offer massage for men in a supportive, private and relaxing environment.  My multifaceted, intuitive and uniquely personal style, developed over 25+ years of practice, and drawing on extensive training in shiatsu,  Asian medicine, Swedish massage and erotic touch makes my service the perfect choice for guys who are looking for :

  • deep tissue bodywork after a training session at the gym;
  • relaxing and de-stressing bodywork in a peaceful environment after a hard day at the office;
  • an opportunity to explore erotic male touch – maybe for the first time – in a safe, private and non-judgmental space.

All men over 18 years of age are welcome to attend.  If you are 18 to 25 years old, please bring photo I.D. to verify your age.

My two most-asked questions:

1. “Are you an RMT?”

I am not an RMT.

My training in shiatsu, in London and Toronto, entitles me to a license to practice.  However, if you are looking for a receipt for insurance purposes, I’m not able to help you, although I will gladly give you a receipt for your records.

2. “Do you use a massage table?”

I do not use a massage table, as explained elsewhere on this site.

My bodywork training was primarily in shiatsu, a Japanese system based on Asian principles of balanced energy and utilizing knowledge of the body’s acupuncture points. Shiatsu uses full-body pressure by the therapist to tonify depleted areas of the body and to disperse areas that are in excess; stretches are also involved.

This use of full body-weight on the client is possible because of the unique set up: Shiatsu is traditionally given with the client lying on a futon on the floor, with the therapist beside them, at the same level.

During the few sessions, many years ago, when I used a massage table, I noted how much this required effort on my part, as well as conveying the message that the client was “something to be worked on.” This is typical of a western mindset that compartmentalizes people as well as knowledge.

Contact:

Same day appointments:

647 767 0752

TEXT ONLY (you can call,  but NO PHONE MESSAGES – I don’t use voicemail and if you leave a message, no one will hear it.)

State your name and preferred time.   Please do not say  “Are you available later today?” or “Are you free this afternoon?” when what you really mean is “I’d like to come in half an hour” or “I want an appointment at 3:00.”

ASK for what you want straight out.  I want you to have your preferred time!  No matter how last-minute your request, I will do my best to fulfill it.

Enquiries and Advance bookings:  Email:   david@bodyworktoronto.ca

If you are booking in advance, or it’s a same-day request and you’re feeling lucky, you can email me:  david@bodyworktoronto.ca

If you cannot send text from your phone and must use email for same-day, please email me at least four hours in advance.  I MAY see your message in time. 😉

Otherwise, I welcome your enquiry:  please contact me on the day and we will work with what is available.

Location and Travel

I am located at 392 Sherbourne Street (west side of Sherbourne just north of Carlton).  Entry and suite number will be provided when you book an appointment.

The following directions are very detailed, so if you’re direction-challenged, like me, you’ll have no problem.

TTC:
On the Yonge/University (north-south) Line, get off at College Station.

Take the exit which indicates “Maple Leaf Gardens”.  When you reach street level, you will be outside a Shopper’s Drug Mart store.  With Shoppers Drug Mart to your LEFT, start walking—you’ll be walking east. Walk East along Carlton Street (Carlton = College east of Yonge); and after a couple of minutes you will be outside a Loblaws supermarket—the former Maple Leaf Gardens. At this point you are at Church Street. Continue walking east, crossing Church Street and then Jarvis Street.  The next intersection is Sherbourne.  Turn left around the corner and walk 1 min north to find 392.  You can also take the streetcar east from College Station, but it is such a short walk that it’s hardly worth the wait.

On the Bloor (east-west) Line, get off at Sherbourne Station, and take the Sherbourne Street exit.  Do NOT take the exit marked “Glen Road”.  Once at street level, you will be on the east side of Sherbourne Street at Bloor.  Do not cross Bloor Street, but cross to the opposite (west) side of Sherbourne Street and then head south on Sherbourne Street until you pass Wellesley.  Continue south and 392 is just before Carlton (you will pass the Phoenix Concert Theatre just before you reach my building).  You can also take the bus south from Sherbourne, but again, hardly worth the wait.

The walking times from either of these stations is roughly the same:  about 10 to 15 minutes.

CAR:  From the Gardiner Expressway, take the Jarvis Street or Sherbourne Street exits.  Jarvis is marginally faster.  Head north on Jarvis  – you will continue past these main intersections:  Front, King, Adelaide, Richmond, Queen, Dundas.  The next main intersection is College/Carlton. Turn right onto Carlton, then after barely half a minute, turn left onto Sherbourne. You will immediately see my building on the opposite (west) side of the street. Turn into the south driveway to access visitor parking.

PARKING:  Very limited free visitor parking is located behind my building (take the south side driveway) subject to availability.  If no visitor spots are available, DO NOT use – there is a P parking lot across the street – less expensive than getting towed.

HOURS:
8 am (start time) to 8:30 pm (start time for last appointment) daily.

Late nights:  Surcharge:  20+ at my discretion.
